Sahar V. Jaffrey, DDS, MS, INC
Dr. Jaffrey received her training at
the University of Damascus and the Oregon Health Sciences University. She
completed her Pediatric dental residency at the University of California,
School of Dentistry, San Francisco and Children’s Hospital, Oakland. She
also earned a Master of Science degree in Teaching Health Education from
Portland State University in 1990. She has been a Diplomate of the
American Board of Pediatric Dentistry since 1996.
Dr. Jaffrey has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Contra
Costa Dental Society and has served as a Chairperson for Community Dental
Services since 2001. Dr. Jaffrey’s work in helping underprivileged
children was recognized by the California Dental Association in their
publication, “CDA Update.”
She is on the Staff of John Muir Hospital and Children’s Hospital, Oakland
where she treats young and/or compromised patients. She also works with
experienced pediatric anesthesiologists to sedate fearful patients who
need complicated dental procedures.
Dr. Jaffrey is a member of the American and California Dental
Associations, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the
California Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
Out of the office, Dr. Jaffrey enjoys speaking to health professional and
parent groups on the subject of dental health for children. She also
enjoys gourmet cooking, painting, outdoor activities and supporting her
daughter’s athletic activities.

A
native Californian, Dr. Spencer grew up in San Rafael. He attended
the University of Southern California, graduating from the USC
School of Dentistry in 1965. After four years of active duty as a
Naval Dental Officer, he completed his pediatric dental residency at
Children’s Hospital, Oakland. He practiced pediatric dentistry in
Berkeley from 1969-1988. He opened this Walnut Creek pediatric
dental practice in 1973.
As a young dental officer treating dependent children of military families while stationed in Japan, Dr. Spencer found that using Snoopy with the young children helped them accept dental treatment. Snoopy has been Dr. Spencer’s office “mascot” ever since. This office is commonly referred to as the “Snoopy office”, with countless Snoopys and Woodstocks throughout the office.
Dr. Spencer served as the pediatric dental consultant to the former U.S. Naval Hospital, Oakland, and as Chief, Division of Dentistry, Children’s Hospital, Oakland. He is a member of the Berkeley and Contra Costa Dental Societies, California and American Dental Associations, as well as the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a Fellow of both the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the American College of Dentists.
Dr. Spencer is married to Norma Spencer and they have a daughter, Kim, who is a dental hygienist. Their late son, Troy, was a 7th grade science teacher at Pleasant Hill Middle School for many years. They have two granddaughters. Dr. Spencer has coached boys’ and girls’ youth baseball teams and spent 23 years with the Mt. Diablo-Silverado Council, B.S.A., serving in many capacities including Cubmaster, Scoutmaster and Council Vice-president. He is a Silver Beaver recipient.
He is also certified in forensic dentistry with over 30 years in the field. He has served as a forensic consultant to numerous law enforcement agencies including the California Dept. of Justice and the FBI. He has written and published in both his dental fields and is a frequent presenter to health professional and law enforcement groups, locally, nationally and internationally. He is a volunteer community educator for the Contra Costa Child Abuse Prevention Council and a member of the county’s Child Death Review Team. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Odontology. He is an active member of both state and national emergency response groups.
When not working with his young
patients or his forensic activities Dr. Spencer enjoys traveling, spending
time with his granddaughters, sporting events and fly-fishing.

Dr.
Zahra Hosseini, DDS
Dr. Hosseini grew up in Moraga, and Graduated from Campolindo High school. She attended S.F.S.U where she received her B.S in Physiology. She attended UCSF School of Dentistry where she received her DDS, in 1999. She completed her pediatric dental residency at the USC school of dentistry in 2001. Dr. Zahra Hosseini is married with a young son.

Our office requires that our clinical staff
members be either Registered Dental Assistants or Registered Dental
Hygienists with a special interest in children, including those with
special conditions.

Manager
Tracey comes to our office with 14 years of dental experience. She is dedicated to the healthy happy smiles of our patients and the efficiency of our practice. Throughout her career in the dental field, she has maintained continuing education to constantly meet the changes in chair-side assisting, lab procedures and practice management skills.
Spring 2008 was very exciting for Tracey as she became a new grandmother of two gurgling happy baby girls. She enjoys hanging out with her three daughters and listening to her husband croon to their grand-daughters-channeling “Hank Williams”.

Evette has been in the dental field for sixteen years. She enjoys working in our pediatric practice. Evette is married and has two sons. She enjoys working out, movies, and salsa dancing.
Wanda Santos
Receptionist
Wanda joined our staff in April 2008. She has 22 years of dental experience at the front desk in specialty practices. Wanda is married and has two daughters, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, exercise, and the outdoors.
Tiona Smith,
RDA
Head Assistant
Tiona joined the staff in 1999 with previous experience as a dental assistant in a general dental office. She is certified by the state dental board to place dental sealants and is the Head Assistant of the clinical staff. Tiona has two daughters. Pediatric dental health is a passion for Tiona with emphasis on special needs children.
Nazia
Khan, RDA
Nazia is one of the newer members of our staff, having completed her dental assisting education at Diablo Valley College. She is continuing to take classes with the goal of becoming a dentist. She enjoys working with animals in her spare time.
Lauren
(Cellini) Keller, RDA
Lauren completed her dental assisting education at Diablo Valley College in 2005 and immediately joined this staff. A Martinez native, she previously worked at Woodbridge, an after-school program at Morello Park Elementary School in Martinez. Lauren and her husband welcomed a beautiful baby boy in June.
Thuy "Twee" Ngo, RDA
Twee is a 2006 graduate of DVC's dental
assisting program and joined this staff in May of 2007 after working in a
pediatric dental office in Fairfield.

Jennifer Pacleb, DA
Jennifer is a dental assistant who enjoys working with children and
parents. Jennifer has eight years in the dental field; she lives with her
husband in Vallejo. Jennifer loves to organize and decorate.
Kristen Kaufmann, DA
Kristen interned in our office and loved working with the children. She graduated from DVC in 2008. Kristen loves to shop, travel and go to the beach. She continues her education in the dental field with hopes of becoming a dental hygienist.
Jeannine
Cherene, RDA
Jeannine comes to our staff with sixteen years of dental experience. She is a busy mother of two boys and a girl all under the age of five. Jeannine loves crocheting, knitting and other needle arts. Her patience with children allow for a calm dental visit.
